A witty book of memoirs by the English writer William Henry Helm (1860–1936), who was Literary Editor of The Morning Post and best known for his 1909 monograph of Jane Austen. In this work, he relates personal reminiscences of Tennyson, Whistler, Mark Twain, Henry James, Rodin and H. G. Wells. With a preface by the writer Edward Harold Physick (1878-1972), under his pseudonym E. H. Visiak. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, smart, with light fading to the spine and to the extremities of the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Dust wrapper is smart, though sunned to the spine.
